Disabilites Resource Center

In 2007, UPMC established the Disabilities Resource Center (DRC) with a goal of ensuring that healthcare is accessible to people with disabilities. The DRC provides support to UPMC staff and facilities and has four broad areas of focus—Education & Training, Assessment of Facilities & Policies, Resource Development and Community Interaction.

To better serve our patients and visitors, the DRC has posted Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) for patients and visitors with disabilities. An FAQ for those who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing can be found at www.upmc.com under the For Patients, Families and Visitors tab or by clicking here. The FAQ outlines how to prepare for a healthcare visit, resources and tools available, how to obtain these resources, and general tips to optimize the healthcare experience.

We invite you to review the FAQs before your next healthcare visit at UPMC and to share this resource with your friends and family. Questions and comments can be directed to the Disabilities Resource Center at 412-605-1483 or disabilitiesresource@upmc.edu
